Chief Financial Officer

A strategic and resourceful human-first thinker, the Chief Financial Officer will direct and oversee multiple financial and administrative areas within our family of affiliated companies. This includes the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and forecasting to predict future growth.
 

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Planning

  •   Assist in formulating the company’s strategic direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Develop financial and tax strategies.
  • Lead the organization through the business and budget planning cycle.
  • Develop performance measures and monitoring systems that support the company’s strategic direction.
  • Identify opportunities for expansion.

Operations

  • Participate in key decisions as a member of the Leadership Team.
  • Maintain relationships with all members of the management team.
  • Coordinate with the Controller to help drive process, efficiency, and technology enhancement projects within the accounting team.
  • Oversee the company’s finance IT system.
  • Supervise M&A acquisition due diligence and negotiations, as needed.
  • Analyze operations to identify areas in need of reorganization, downsizing, or elimination.

Financial Information

  • Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Monitor cash balances and cash flow projections. Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations.
  • Study long-range economic trends and project their impact on future growth revenue and market share.
  • Manage relationships with treasury and banking contacts, as needed.
  • Maintain an understanding of loan and legal documents.
  • Supervise a team of 3-5 accounting professionals.

Risk Management

  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company’s risk profile.
  • Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry.
  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems.
  • Maintain appropriate insurance coverage.
  • Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies, as necessary.

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance required.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
  • Eight years of experience in financial management required.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial real estate and construction accounting required.
